I still occasionally use checks (I know, I’m old) and I ran out, so I designed a new picture check for myself.

I stitched all the wings and feathers, but I still have to add the top band. I’ll leave that for tomorrow–I’ll need something to do then, right?

I skived all of the little accent holes in the wings today. Oh, and I gave the Phoenix an eye and skived that too.

There’s still more skiving to do; next I need to skive all of the orange holes so I can layer in the yellow piece behind them. But that’s a job for tomorrow.

I spent most of my day skiving, but fortunately sitting and skiving all day is one of my favorite things. It’s incredibly easy on a design like this to accidentally skive off a point and have to cut the entire top again and start over, but I’m proud to say that did not happen. The pile of colors off to the right is pieces I’ll need to cut out and skive tomorrow.

I’m starting a new pair of boots. This is a design I’ve done before titled “By The Time I Get To Phoenix” updated with a Cherokee Star top band.

I’ll let them sit on the trees overnight so they’ll have a nice shape, then final polish and they’re done!

The next step is building the heels; they’re almost finished!
