Paige’s shoes

Paige has finished another pair of shoes. These are her shoes and what she wrote about making them:

“It took me a few more days to finish them than I anticipated, but here they are! I’ve had a busy week. I not only started my Senior Year of high school, but I’m also enrolled in a local college where I take one online college class per semester along with my normal high school classes. I can’t wait to go back to school on Monday wearing my handmade, cranberry red loafers!”

Pegging

My student and I stayed late and pegged the soles of our boots. I am both tired and glad we got it done.

Sewing the welt

I hand stitched the welt on today, and prepared the soles. The soles will sit in the water overnight and be ready tomorrow.

Today’s work

I got these boots on the last today.

These boots belong to my current student. He learned to last and wipe in the heel today.

Turning the horse boots

One boot has been turned and one is still waiting to have the pulls stitched down.

Horse boots

Here I’m getting ready to create the horse head vamp tongue. A regular boot vamp isn’t wide enough for the horses shoulders or tall enough for the horse’s ear. I figured this out the hard way and had to crimp another set of vamps, then wait an extra day for them to dry.

1

The horse head tongue has been created with inlay and overlay but not stitched. That’s why the horse heads look fat and completely without personality.

2

And now they have personality! I love the coquettish expression on their faces.

3

The back of the boots feature a horse’s rump. I think every politician should have a pair of boots with this theme.
Ha. I crack myself up.

Horse tops

Black and white cowboy boots with cartoon horses on the boot tops? I can do that.
