My oldest daughter Morgan is a writer and I occasionally post links to her blog. I particularly like her most recent post, a pitch for a reality TV show.

The boots are finished and my shop is clean. I’m not sure which statement makes me happier.

My heater has spontaneously begun working and as it becomes warmer I have gradually regained my will to live. Operation Clean-Up My Disgustingly Filthy Shop is now in progress.

The heels are completed on these boots–tomorrow I’ll dye and polish them.
My shop is the filthiest it’s ever been and I lack even the smallest hint of the gumption needed to clean it. If you’re coming by for a visit please call first so I can do the boot maker equivalent of quickly stuffing things in closets.

Today I’ll be building heels.

This is only the second time I’ve had to do a sole with two rows of stitching and I’ve been worrying about it since I took the order. But it’s done and it looks great!

My heating unit stopped working a couple of weeks ago and then miraculously started working again on its own, coincidentally enough the same afternoon that we had an earthquake. Early Monday morning we had another and I arrived at my shop to find it cold–no heat. Yesterday the service guy came and told me the circuit board is fried. This morning we had another earthquake. When I got to the shop it was warm and the heater was running! I think God is playing with me.

I inseamed both of these boots today.

I have to admit to feeling a bit of pride this morning. These weren’t easy.
