I spent Sunday afternoon with Satan; I’m trying to finish my shoes before I see The Malpass Brothers in concert on Sunday. (Taylor Malpass owns the “Satan Is Real” cowboy boots — they’re fellow Louvin Brothers fans.) Today I finished the sole edges, finished the soles, and laid the first heel layer (if one’s going to try to not stick, it’ll be that one, so I like to get it done). Since it’s rarely ever efficient to work on one pair at a time, the Fender tweed shoes came along for the ride. Now all I need to do for both pairs is finish building the heels and they’ll be done!

Do you sell the lasts you show for these shoes? How do the sizes run and what is the heel height and price if available?

Yes, I sell this last model; it’s the LS217. I don’t have it on the website, but it’s only available by special-order, since I don’t have room to stock another last model. They’re sized in men’s sizes, they have a narrow streamlined square toe, no heel plate (but you can add one when you order if you want), and they’re a combination last in two ways– the heel area of the last is like a shoe but the forepart is a cowboy boot last, and it’s two widths wider in the forepart than the heel. In other words, if the last is marked an A width, it’s an A in the heel, a B in the instep, and a C in the forepart.
They’re priced the same as all of my other lasts: $85 per pair, $75 if you order twenty pairs or more.
