“Four Strong Winds”

In the weeks leading up to my daughter Paige’s death, I began to have visions of wings. Every time I put my arm around her back or noticed her shoulders, I saw wings–strong and mottled like the wings of a hawk. I thought it meant that she was getting stronger, but she flew away in a manner I didn’t anticipate.
These are the first boots I’ve made since she left us.

About customboots

I'm a custom cowboy boot maker. I own a business, Sorrell Custom Boots, and I create bespoke cowboy boots using vintage machinery and hand tools. I have no employees, but my daughter Paige works in my shop with me. She has her own business making ladies shoes.
