Today’s work

I had hoped to start cutting leather today but instead I completed all of the pattern pieces and fit the last.

Hi Lisa. The design on these boots is one of your best ones yet! Can’t wait to see the leather color choices. A question about the lasts – what “goop” do you use to get the custom fit and are the lasts used again for someone else’s boots of a similar size. Or do you use new lasts for each pair?

      Thank you!

I do the primary part of building up a last with leather–it’s easier to control exactly how much I’m adding and keep the last contours. Once I’m close to where I need to be I sometimes use body filler with fiberglass particles to get the exact dimensions I need, and I always use it to change a toe shape.

I fit a new last for each client and put their name on it. I don’t reuse a last once it’s been fitted for a client.
