Gasp!

I just realized to my horror that the odd arrangement on my fume exhaust table is due to Paige having trapped a wasp under a bowl and then sat a glue bottle on top of the bowl to secure it. I didn’t notice it until the wasp moved. My first thought was SPIDER! so… there were screams. Now I have to figure out how to deal with this situation.

Seal of Austria

I sent these off to their new owner yesterday. I’ve been working on them in my shop for three months; with my travel schedule I didn’t plan on continuous attention for these. They were here so long they began to feel like mine, and I kinda miss them.
I named them “I’ll Be Here (If You Ever Want Me)” for two reasons. The song has the phrase “ain’t no chain strong enough to hold me” and the eagle has broken the chain. And, he’s a good customer, so I’ll be here if he wants more!

My favorite sort of argument with a client:
Client: You forgot to bill me for this.
Me: No, I did bill you for it, and you’ve paid in full.
It’s nice because it shows how honest and thoughtful they are, AND for once, I get to be the person who remembered to do something.

I’m in Oregon for the Pendleton Leather Show. I visited another boot maker; he had a beautiful curved needle for sale; and assuming I can get it into the truck, I’m bringing it home with me!

New Chair

Paige’s boyfriend Shane has been doing upholstery for several years. Like her, he became interested in leather work early and is already quite accomplished. I purchased this comfortable old chair second-hand, but the vinyl upholstery was ripped. Shane recovered the chair in leather and did a great job!
