It’s a Boot Life

My students are making progress on their cowboy boots. They’ll be finished tomorrow!

Today was a very busy day for my students.

The foot part of a boot is called the “vamp” and the hard piece that stabilizes the heel is the “counter” which is covered by the “counter cover.” Today, I sewed the vamps, counters, and counter covers on these boot tops.

My current student Bob, happily practicing stitching boot tops.

This is a set of boot top panels with all of the inlay work completed.

And… this is one panel that’s been stitched.

This is what meditation looks like in my shop.

As always, the stitching brings it to life.

I’m hoping to get these boots tops together today so I can start stitching them.
