Roses

I have the toe box in the rose boots. Depending on how my day goes, I may inseam them this afternoon.

Much pride

This is Shane, my honorary son, who has his own business doing auto and boat upholstery. This is a pair of seats he just finished, done in hair-on cowhide. It was heavy and hard to work with, and he even took the care to line up the color pattern on both seats. I’m pretty proud of him.
If you need upholstery done, he’s your guy.

The hard part is done

I made these boots for myself in 2003. They’ve been resoled once, but this time the toe was worn through and they needed a new foot too. I tore them apart to fix a year ago, but putting on a new foot meant sewing a small part of each side seam by hand. Every time I thought of hand sewing the side seam I just couldn’t EVEN, so they’ve sat for months. Today I finally forced myself to do it and now I’m quite excited about getting them finished again.
This boot is titled “A Good Year for the Roses.”

Cool new boots

My apprentice Mallory just finished a new pair of boots for herself. She started these before she came to my shop and she built them all on her own so I can’t take any of the credit. 🙂
I need to have her teach me how to do that cool stitch around the boot above the welt!

“You’re the Reason God Made Oklahoma”

This is my latest project. It’s an 18″ square leather pillow featuring Oklahoma’s state bird, the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, and Oklahoma’s state wildflower, the Indian Blanket.
It’s titled “You’re the Reason God Made Oklahoma.”

Wonder Women

I’m teaching a class in North Carolina, and one of the machines evidently experience a power surge overnight. We took it apart, diagnosed it, and then (since they had another machine that wasn’t being used) replaced the motor.

Apprentice

My new apprentice Mallory is showing a remarkable aptitude for leather inlay and overlay. She’s inlaid the Beijing Drum and Bell Towers into her boot tops.

Working Man Blues

Introducing the encore edition of “Working Man Blues.” These boots have needed to be resoled for a long time and I’m happy to have them back.
