I love Marty because he passionately loves country music. I get that. ![]()
Also, in the “Tempted” video he’s wearing a pair of yellow boots we made when I worked with Jay Griffith. I believe we made the black top/white foot boots on one of the band members also. I remember that pair because Jay used some horrid piece of cheap white leather the first time we made them and the finish came off before Woody finished them so we had to start over. That was not a peaceful day in the Jay Griffith boot shop!
I can spot two pairs of boots we made in the still shop of cowboy boots too.
I have a lovely trio of boots to keep me company in the shop today.

Remember the insole picture I posted this morning? Now that insole is hidden inside these boots, providing a solid foundation but probably never seen again.

You can’t see the insole of a boot unless you peek down inside, but the cut of the insole can give your boots pleasing curves or bestow all of the grace and shape of a potato. The bottom insole has been trimmed to the shape of the last and the top insole is still waiting for the magic.

This is what being incredibly wealthy looks like to a boot maker. A friend heard about the broken piece on my American Straight Needle and sent me FOUR replacements!

The boots are sewn right-sides together then turned right-side-out. And… since I broke my American Straight Needle and my iPhone today, I’m done. Instead of seeing what else I can destroy, I’m going home.

Boot makers often stick with one tongue shape for all the boots they make, but I like to switch it up every now and then.

I finished stitching all three of my boot tops today and made the pulls for them.
