This coming weekend I’ll be hosting a gathering for boot and shoemakers and the festivities have already started for me. Marika from NYC is here taking an inlay/overlay class and Carina from Sweden is here because my shop is a fun place!
I’ve posted my October newsletter on my website.

I’m in a book! If you want one you can order through my website: http://customboots.net/Sorrell_Custom_Boots/Portfolio.html
On “It’s a Boot Life” this week I make my annual pilgrimage to the Boot and Saddlemakers Roundup in Wichita Falls, Texas.

These two pairs of boots are ready to be put on the last, the wooden form around which boots and shoes are built.
My friend Marcell Mrsan, shoemaking professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design, called me a few minutes ago. He had shown some of my work to his students and they were refusing to believe I didn’t have a laser cutter so he called and put me on speakerphone. I announced that I have an X-Acto knife and fingers–no laser cutter.

These boots are making me happy, which is a good thing. Designs that make me happy become better boots.

This is an additional example of the difference that stitching makes.

One would think I’d grow accustomed to it but I never tire of seeing a design come to life when I stitch it.
