My family and I are in Arkansas at the lake for the weekend. I’ve been up since 7am picking wild raspberries and these are the results of my labors. I only ran into one spider but I killed him with my bare hands (by beating my leg black and blue). I’ll leave the sound track for that little episode up to your imagination.
This is the most common form of interaction at a shoemaker’s gathering.
I sent the completed book materials for the leather inlay/overlay book off to the publisher yesterday. Authors frequently refer to books as their children and I have decided it’s very true. At the beginning it was so sweet and wonderful but gradually it became a surly adult and I was starting to wonder if I’d ever get it out of my basement. Now that it’s gone, I’m remembering the good times and feeling broody. Maybe I’ll make another book!

Today I’m dying and finishing the sole edges and the soles. Next I’ll build the heels and then they’ll be done! This little boot will be leaving the nest soon to go out into the big wide world.
This isn’t good. Now I’ll never be able to use my glue pot again.
Here’s a new boot top I’ve started.
I’m starting a new boot top design. When there are tiny design elements I like to cut them out with a knife and draw the stitching line around the shapes so I’ll know exactly how they will fit.
