I’ve finished stitching the design on the boot tops; the next step is sewing on the vamps and counters.

Whenever I draw a new design, I like to go over it and make any final alterations with a different color of pen so I can see the adjustments. I’ve only ever used black and blue ink. Now I’ll have lots of color choices!

All the pieces are coming together and beginning to look like cowboy boots.

Sometimes my bench gets a little messy.

This boot is a triad style. The boot tops extend all the down to the sole.

Judging from the skiving scraps on my floor, I’m feeling blue.

I tell my students that the Boot Maker’s Prayer is, “Please match, please match.” In this case it was answered.

Skiving all these tiny little fingers was not quite the joyful experience you might be imagining.
