I’ll Fly Away

My completed boot shoes
This is the first piece I’ve created since we lost our daughter Paige that is specifically about that loss. They are titled “I’ll Fly Away.”

I didn’t get to take them on the cruise because there was a patterning issue. I was able to fix it when I got back to the shop; it’s not invisible but they’re wearable now and as the old boot makers say, “No one will ever see it if you’re riding a black horse in a dark alley.” I don’t know if the error was caused by a mathematical error during geometric patterning or if the geometric patterning system I used simply isn’t designed to create patterns for lasts with higher heels. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to make more boot shoes!
